Business Curtailment Program

Big Incentives To Help OPPD reduce demand!

Demand Reduction Rewards

Maintaining a healthy electrical grid can be a challenge when customer demand is at its highest. OPPD’s Business Curtailment Program offers business customers the opportunity to earn big rewards for helping us reduce demand. This helps OPPD keep rates low for all of our customers and prevents service interruptions within the larger community.

Participating customers receive a monthly bill credit for agreeing to curtail/lease a set amount of kW upon request by OPPD – and you receive the monthly credit whether your services are requested that month or not.

We always provide a minimum 4 hours advance notice prior to making any official curtailment/lease request and have increased the incentives and lowered the qualification threshold  – it’s easier than ever to get involved and give your bottom line a boost.

Approval into the Business Curtailment Program requires a review of your usage history and/or operations to determine your energy curtailment expectations. Each program has its own individual terms, conditions, and qualifications, including noncompliance penalties. The chart below provides a handy introduction to the different rate riders. Reach out to your OPPD senior account executive or account executive any time to learn about the program in greater detail and find an agreement that’s the right size for your business.

Business Curtailment Monthly Credit Chart
Rate 467L Energy Credit is determined by the number of hours energy is leased during an event.
For example, 100 kilowatts (kW) curtailed for a 6 hour event would receive an Energy Credit of $0.25 per kilowatt hour (kWh):
100kW * 6hr * $0.25/kWh = $150 (added on top of the Base Capacity Credit)
