It’s here—we’re hard at work exchanging our customers’ older meter models with new meters. The new industry standard for utilities nationwide, modern meters allow you to take charge of your energy with tools that help you track usage and stay informed.

If you have an account manager or senior account manager, they will reach out with more details as your exchange window approaches.

If you do not have an account manager, we’ll provide more information to your billing address in the weeks leading up to your equipment exchange.

Project timeline

OPPD completed a soft launch for approximately 10,000 customers in 2025. In 2026, we're making more upgrades across our service area to support the larger modern meter ecosystem. Wider installation will begin January 2027, upgrading around 22,000 customer meters a month. We expect to have all meters updated by end of 2028.
