How to Become a Trade Ally


Steps to Become a Trade Ally for:


Business Rebates

  1. Complete the online application to start the process.
    (Completing this application will not give you access to the system it will alert OPPD of your interest.)
  2. An OPPD representative will reach out to you. They will provide a link to the Rebate Program Training Video and Assessment.
  3. Watch the video.
  4. Take the Assessment (a score of 80% or higher is required on the assessment to move forward in the process).
  5. Complete and submit the current year Trade Ally Agreement (sent to you once training is completed and the test score has been accepted) 
  6. Receive notification by OPPD of your acceptance into the program.
  7. Start entering rebates on behalf of your customers.
    *Custom Request for Information (RFI) must be completed to become a Custom Trade Ally


Solar Rebates


Contractors must meet the following requirements in order to apply to be an OPPD COG Trade Ally:

  • Have a local, physical commercial office where OPPD and customers can visit
  • Be in business for at least 12 months under the same corporate name
  • Have submitted at least two COG interconnection applications through OPPD within the last 12 months
  • Have an active NABCEP solar installer license OR have systems designed by a NABCEP certified designer
  • Have liability and workers compensation insurance and provide proof of insurance
  1. Contractors who meet these requirements can apply to become a Trade Ally by completing this form.
  2. OPPD will review the application and contact you if additional information is needed.
  3. After all requirements are met and all required documents are provided, the prospective Trade Ally evaluation period begins.
    • The evaluation period lasts a minimum of 6 months and requires a minimum of 3 additional COG interconnections through OPPD
    • During this time, OPPD will routinely survey mutual customers to ensure the information being provided is fair, complete, and accurate
    • Contractors who regularly violate the terms of the Trade Ally Agreement will be denied participation in the Trade Ally program
  4. Contractor is admitted to the Trade Ally program and may begin applying for rebates on behalf of customers.
