Heat the Streets Run & Walk for Warmth

  • Saturday, March 7, 2026
  • Timed 5K run, timed 10K, untimed 2-mile walk and a virtual run/walk
  • Aksarben Village or virtual participation
  • 5K & 10K begin at 9 a.m. with the walk to immediately follow

Omaha Public Power District and Metropolitan Utilities District team up to host this annual event, with proceeds benefiting local utility assistance programs to help friends, family and neighbors in our communities pay their utility bills. The event is hosted in the cold winter months to bring attention to those who struggle to keep the lights on and heat their homes. However, utility assistance is a year-round need. Funds raised are administered by Dollar Energy Fund, Inc., a registered 501(c)3, and then split between OPPD’s Energy Assistance Program and M.U.D.’s Home Fund to provide local assistance to those in need.
