As a public power utility, Omaha Public Power District is committed to and invested in supporting thriving communities. We strive to connect our customers with a range of helpful resources, including employment, physical and mental health resources, family support, financial assistance and more. That’s why next week OPPD will be hosting its second pilot community resource fair.

Tuesday, October 15
5 - 7 p.m.
Salvation Army’s Kroc Center
2825 Y St., Omaha

Our community resource fairs are a one-stop shop where customers can learn about programs and services available to them while visiting a variety of informational stations, including how to save energy and weatherize their homes, as well as bill payment options and assistance.

OPPD’s first community resource fair was held at Omaha’s Salem Baptist Church in June, at which we provided more than 300 OPPD customers from 120 households with a range of assistance, including:

  • Providing nearly $30,000 in energy assistance to 82 customers.
  • Enrolling 39 customers in the Customer Assistance Program (CAP) Pilot Program.
  • Assisting 15 customers who were not eligible for assistance by enrolling them in the Payment Installment Program at OPPD, a program that can help customers catch up on their bill in a more manageable way.
  • Arranging to work with other customers on providing the documentation required to apply for energy assistance.

Through these events, we hope to continue to learn more about our communities, get customer feedback and use that input to create similar fairs across our 13-county service territory.
