BRINGING ENERGY EDUCATION TO LIFE IN THE CLASSROOM
OPPD and our partners at the National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project are excited to bring to life the Energy Education Program for educators in the OPPD service territory.
How it works:
The Energy Education Program is a STEM, project-based program that combines energy workshops for teachers and hands-on lessons with activities for classrooms and after school and summer programs, all FREE of charge.
The program curriculum is aligned with the Nebraska State Standards for Science. Educators are invited to participate in bi-annual teacher workshops that provide training on a variety of energy topics, including how to facilities activities with students using the provided STEM kits. Teachers can also request OPPD's Energy Educator, Mr. E, to come and teach hands-on lessons about solar energy, wind energy, energy efficiency and conservation or the energy source exploration.
The Energy Education Program also offers three activities for youth organizations and summer youth programs, ages 8-12. The activities use fun games and art activities to teach youth about energy sources. Check out our Energy Education Program flier below for more details.

OPPD Level 2 Energy Education Teacher Workshop

Attendees who have attended the Level 1 workshop before are encouraged to attend this Level 2 workshop for a deeper dive. Teachers in this workshop will learn about how electrical circuits work and how the grid works with a math focused game, how everyone’s energy choices are made in our daily lives, energy efficiency and more.
